Getting a veneer fitted always starts with a no-obligation consultation with us. No obligations, no surprises. Our dentists take the time to listen to your story, your wishes, and your expectations. Based on this, we create a customized treatment plan.

We have our own in-house dental laboratory, which means that your veneers are literally made under the same roof. Our dental technicians work directly with the treating dentist. If something isn't quite right, it is adjusted on the spot.

The veneers process

We would be happy to walk you through the veneers process. That way, you know exactly what to expect.

Step 1: intake and oral examination during a personal intake consultation. We examine your teeth, listen to your wishes, and assess which type of veneer best suits them. We discuss the color, shape, and material. This allows us to create a customized treatment plan.

Step 2: Preparation (if necessary). For composite veneers, the application of the veneer begins immediately. For porcelain veneers, a small layer of enamel is ground away. We also take an impression of your teeth, and you will be given a temporary restoration to take home.

Step 3: Veneers from our own laboratory are custom-made. We ensure that they fit your teeth perfectly.

Step 4: Fitting and placing the veneers. After you have the veneers fitted, they are checked for bite, color, and shape. If you are satisfied, the veneers are permanently placed. Are any adjustments still needed? Then we make them immediately in our laboratory.

What are veneers?

A facing is a thin shield of composite of porcelain that is placed over the front of your tooth. This allows us to change the color, shape, and position of your teeth. Your own teeth remain as intact as possible, while your smile changes completely. It differs from a crown. With a crown, the entire tooth is covered. Veneers only cover the visible front side. The veneer treatment is therefore much less invasive, with an equally beautiful result.

What are veneers used for?

Dental veneers resolve many issues. If you are insecure about your teeth, you can benefit greatly from this treatment. The most common applications are:

  • Discolored or yellow teeth that do not whiten with bleaching
  • Broken or damaged corners
  • Gaps between the teeth
  • Irregularities in the tooth shape
  • Teeth that are slightly smaller than the rest

Veneers for crooked teeth

Veneers also work for crooked teeth in many cases. We can use them to correct mild to moderate misalignments. The visible side of the tooth is restored, making your teeth look straighter. Veneers for white teeth

For those who want a dazzling white smile, veneers for white teeth are an option. You decide which shade to choose: natural off-white or a radiant Hollywood smile. Veneers are a permanent solution for teeth that are deeply discolored. Unlike teeth whiteningAs a result, deep discolorations from within the tooth are more difficult to resolve.

Veneers on the front teeth

Veneers are often chosen for the front teeth only. These are, of course, the most visible teeth. We look together at how many teeth are visible when you smile. Then, we determine together how many veneers will be placed. A full smile makeover can also include more teeth. We ensure that you get the most beautiful result.

Grinding teeth for veneers

Whether grinding teeth is necessary for veneers varies from person to person.

With composite veneers, grinding is virtually never necessary. This material is applied directly to your teeth. This ensures your teeth remain completely intact.

For porcelain veneers, it may be unavoidable that a small amount of enamel needs to be ground away. This prevents the tooth from becoming thick and unnatural. This will always be a minimal and controlled amount. Our experienced dentists can perform this precisely, ensuring you get the best result.

Facings without grinding are possible. Special 'non-prep facings' exist. These thin shields are wafer-thin, comparable to the thickness of a contact lens. They can be placed directly on your teeth without preparation. The disadvantage of this is that the correction options are more limited.

How much do veneers cost?

If you're considering veneers, you're naturally curious about the cost. We understand that, but it's difficult to say. Every set of teeth is different, and everyone has different needs for veneers.

To accurately estimate the cost, our dentists will first examine your teeth. They will then recommend the type of veneer that best suits your needs.

The cost of veneers is not covered by basic health insurance. You may receive reimbursement with supplementary dental insurance. The extent of this reimbursement depends on your dental insurance. Please check with your insurance provider to be sure.

How does the intake process proceed?

Interview

During an intake appointment, the dentist (specialist) will examine the condition of your teeth. We use the latest techniques for this. We'll let you observe and discuss the options together. Naturally, we'll also assess your expectations.

Treatment plan / Budget

We create a customized treatment plan with an accompanying budget and, if necessary, propose various solutions. If authorization from your health insurer is required, we can also arrange that for you.

Planning and starting treatment

After you've approved the budget, we'll create a schedule. It's important that all appointments are scheduled in the correct order with the right practitioner. We'll also ask about your preferred days and times. After scheduling, we look forward to starting your treatment!

Dr. Jack Plooij

Alongside his career in motorsport, Jack has always been active as a dental implantologist. He studied dentistry in Amsterdam and obtained his PhD in 1992 at the then KU Nijmegen based on research into the treatment effects of immediate overdentures and conventional immediate dentures. CDC knows Jack from the past, where he enjoyed working with the team back then. As of October 1, 2025, he is making his return to CDC as Chief of Clinic. Giulio studied Dentistry in Madrid and graduated from the University Alfonso X El Sabio in 2015. After a short work experience, Giulio moved to the Netherlands and gained five years of work experience. Giulio also further specialized in Endodontics, Aesthetic Dentistry, Prosthetics and Surgery. Giulio works 50% at CDC and 50% in a Clinic in Lombardy (Italy).

Karen has been a dentist at CDC since 2001. After graduating from Utrecht University, she established her own practice in Zeist and later in Rotterdam. Her specialty is cosmetic/aesthetic dentistry. Joana comes from Portugal, where she successfully completed her university dental training. In 2021, Joana moved to the Netherlands with her boyfriend and has enjoyed working at CDC for years now. My colleagues from the laboratory also come into the room to see how the crowns or veneers look on the patient. Before we finally place any work, we can still make adjustments. He's now been active in dental technology for eighteen years. Coen started at CDC as a rookie in the denture rebase and repair department. During his first years at CDC, he completed his dental technology degree at the DHTA in Utrecht. He's now been working at CDC for twelve years and has enjoyed working as the laboratory manager for the past four years. Four years ago, Coen successfully completed his Dentistry degree at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences. This allows him to maintain interaction with patients, which he truly enjoys.

Composite or porcelain veneers?

Composite veneers provide quick results for a limited budget. Additionally, your tooth tissue is not ground down. Porcelain veneers are a more durable and aesthetic solution. We will discuss together what suits you best.

Does applying veneers hurt?

The veneering procedure is very simple and painless. Little to no grinding of the tooth structure is required.

How long do veneers last?

Composite veneers last an average of 4 to 8 years. Porcelain veneers often last 10 to 20 years. The lifespan is extended if you maintain good oral hygiene.

Are veneers covered by health insurance?

Veneers are not covered by basic health insurance. Sometimes supplementary dental insurance offers partial reimbursement. Always check this with your health insurer. We also always discuss this during the intake.

Are veneers bad for your teeth?

No. The veneers are applied by a specialist. Your own tooth tissue remains intact as much as possible during this process.
