If you've lost some teeth, a partial denture can improve your ability to bite, chew, and speak. It can also improve the appearance of your teeth and protect your remaining teeth from wear and decay. Without a partial denture, your natural teeth could become crooked or move. Depending on the material used to make the partial denture, it's also called a partial denture.

How do we proceed?

To ensure a perfect fit for your dentures, the dentist first takes an impression of your current teeth using a special impression material. A dental technician uses this impression to create a plaster model. Based on this model, an acrylic resin model can be developed. The dentist places this model in your mouth to determine the position of your jaws relative to each other. The dentist will then adjust this model so the technician knows how your teeth should fit together. The technician will then adjust the dentures accordingly.

The most important information at a glance

A partial denture can replace missing teeth. It consists of a metal frame that rests on your own teeth. This provides both stability and comfort, and creates a beautiful appearance.

Frame prosthesis for upper and lower jaw

The denture can provide a solution for both the upper and lower jaw. A partial denture on the upper jaw is often used when several teeth are missing. A partial denture on the lower jaw provides stability for the lower part of your teeth. Both options are custom-made in our laboratory for a perfect fit and comfortable wear. Are you missing one or more front teeth? A partial denture for the front teeth is also a possible solution.

Different versions

The frame prosthesis can be made in different ways:

  • A frame denture with white brackets is the same color as your teeth, making it barely noticeable.
  • A frame denture without hooks can be chosen to completely hide the denture in the mouth.
  • A flexible frame prosthesis is made of more flexible material, making it somewhat lighter and offering slightly more comfort. However, it is often less durable than metal versions.

Advantages and disadvantages of a frame prosthesis

Besides all the advantages a partial denture can offer, there are also some drawbacks to consider. We're happy to outline everything for you, so you have all the information you need to make the best choice. Of course, our dentists are also happy to assist you during an intake consultation.

Alternative to a frame prosthesis

Not every set of teeth is suitable for a partial denture. Therefore, a common alternative is a plate denture, which rests entirely on the gums. An implant can also be a solution for missing teeth. Lifespan of a frame prosthesis

The average lifespan of a partial denture is between 5 and 10 years. It's important to maintain your dentures properly to extend their lifespan.

Maintenance tips:

  • Clean the prosthesis every day with a special brush
  • Do not use aggressive cleaning agents
  • Visit your dentist regularly to quickly detect and resolve wear and tear

 

Costs and Fees

The cost of a partial denture depends on the type, the material, and your teeth. It's also important to know how many teeth need to be replaced and whether they're on the top or bottom of your mouth. We'll always discuss the costs during your consultation so you know exactly what to expect. In some cases, coverage for partial dentures is possible through supplementary dental insurance. Always check with your health insurer.

How does the intake process proceed?

Interview

During an intake appointment, the dentist (specialist) will examine the condition of your teeth. We use the latest techniques for this. We'll let you observe and discuss the options together. Naturally, we'll also assess your expectations.

Treatment plan / Budget

We create a customized treatment plan with an accompanying budget and, if necessary, propose various solutions. If authorization from your health insurer is required, we can also arrange that for you.

Planning and starting treatment

After you've approved the budget, we'll create a schedule. It's important that all appointments are scheduled in the correct order with the right practitioner. We'll also ask about your preferred days and times. After scheduling, we look forward to starting your treatment!

Alongside his career in motorsport, Jack has always been active as a dental implantologist. He studied dentistry in Amsterdam and obtained his PhD in 1992 at the then KU Nijmegen based on research into the treatment effects of immediate overdentures and conventional immediate dentures. CDC knows Jack from the past, where he enjoyed working with the team back then. As of October 1, 2025, he is making his return to CDC as Chief of Clinic. Giulio studied Dentistry in Madrid and graduated from the University Alfonso X El Sabio in 2015. After a short work experience, Giulio moved to the Netherlands and gained five years of work experience. Giulio also further specialized in Endodontics, Aesthetic Dentistry, Prosthetics and Surgery. Giulio works 50% at CDC and 50% in a Clinic in Lombardy (Italy).

Karen Mulders

Karen has been a dentist at CDC since 2001. After graduating from Utrecht University, she established her own practice in Zeist and later in Rotterdam. Her specialty is cosmetic/aesthetic dentistry. Joana comes from Portugal, where she successfully completed her university dental training. In 2021, Joana moved to the Netherlands with her boyfriend and has enjoyed working at CDC for years now. My colleagues from the laboratory also come into the room to see how the crowns or veneers look on the patient. Before we finally place any work, we can still make adjustments. He's now been active in dental technology for eighteen years. Coen started at CDC as a rookie in the denture rebase and repair department. During his first years at CDC, he completed his dental technology degree at the DHTA in Utrecht. He's now been working at CDC for twelve years and has enjoyed working as the laboratory manager for the past four years. Four years ago, Coen successfully completed his Dentistry degree at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences. This allows him to maintain interaction with patients, which he truly enjoys.
