Remove tartar
Tartar forms when plaque isn't removed properly. Through hardening, calcification, and buildup, it turns into tartar. Tartar is most common between teeth and molars and in areas that are difficult to reach when brushing. Plaque is a sticky layer of bacteria and food debris that constantly forms on our teeth. You can remove it by brushing thoroughly twice a day. If you don't brush thoroughly enough, plaque turns into tartar.

Prevent tartar
Preventing tartar is, of course, better for your oral health. You can prevent tartar by maintaining good oral care. You can do this by brushing your teeth at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste to remove plaque. Electric toothbrushes are convenient; not everyone likes them, but we do prefer them. It's also effective to use a toothpick or floss between your teeth to ensure that even the areas the toothbrush can't reach are properly cleaned.
Unfortunately, tartar can't always be prevented. Even with proper oral care and cleaning, tartar can be prevented. Therefore, we recommend visiting our clinic every six months for a checkup. This ensures you can prevent any further tartar buildup and maintain healthy teeth.
The most important information at a glance
Treating tartar is very simple and can be resolved in a single appointment. The dental assistant or dental hygienist can remove it for you in two ways. The first method is scraping off the tartar. This involves using a hook to remove the tartar. The second method uses a device with ultrasonic vibrations to loosen the tartar. Both methods are quick and painless, depending on your personal situation. After the treatment, your gums will have the opportunity to recover, and you will regain good oral health.
Is removing tartar painful?
Most people don't experience pain when removing tartar, but it can be a little sensitive, especially if you have inflamed gums. We use special instruments to gently remove the tartar.
What happens if you don't have your tartar removed?
If you don't have tartar removed, it can negatively impact your oral health. Tartar can lead to gingivitis, cavities, bad breath, and ultimately even gum disease. Regular removal prevents these problems.
Can you remove tartar yourself?
You can't remove tartar yourself, as it's too hard to remove with a toothbrush or dental floss. Only a dentist or dental hygienist can safely remove tartar using specialized instruments. Prevention is possible with proper brushing and daily use of dental floss or interdental brushes.

Why are cosmetic and implant treatments sometimes cheaper abroad?
There are several options abroad where you see beautiful photos in the media with impressive final results. However, be careful! Sometimes the results are very disappointing. Many patients regret this afterward, and then the dentist abroad is often no longer available.
Can you also provide advice about the anesthesia during the intake?
You can discuss any questions you have with the dentist during your initial consultation. If anything remains unclear afterward, please feel free to contact us. We have friendly colleagues available by phone, and we also have healthcare consultants who can answer any questions you may have.
I haven't been to the dentist in a long time, and I'm hesitant to make an appointment. How do you handle that?
Admitting you're afraid of the dentist is a good first step. Ask a family member or friend to accompany you to the clinic. Also, let us know at our clinic that you're genuinely afraid. We'll tailor a treatment plan to your needs and listen carefully to your wishes.
Am I required to take out dental insurance?
Taking out insurance isn't required. However, it is recommended if you're considering cosmetic or restorative dental treatment. During the consultation, the dentist will advise you and provide you with a preliminary estimate.
